Planned from the Start: A Healing Devotional
ABOUT THE DEVOTIONAL
THE MAJOR FEATURE FILM UNPLANNED explores Abby Johnson’s journey from Planned Parenthood clinic director to pro-life advocate. Her compelling story is an emotional roller coaster for many women and men whose lives have been touched by abortion. Post-abortion trauma crosses all socio-economic, racial, cultural, and religious boundaries. Many women who chose abortion suffer silently in the aftermath, unaware of the far-reaching effects this decision has triggered in their lives, struggling to believe God could ever forgive them.
As a companion devotional to the movie, Planned from the Start reveals five core areas of emotional turmoil often faced following abortion—emotions that trap women and men in the prison of pain that abortion has brought into their lives and into the lives of those who love them.
These core areas of emotional turmoil are grief, guilt, shame, regret, and depression. But where trauma inflicts devastating pain, God extends abundant grace.
Where there is grief, He anoints your head with joy.
Where there is guilt, He offers you forgiveness.
Where there is shame, He covers you in grace.
Where there is regret, He wraps you in comfort.
Where there is depression, He lifts your heart with hope.
Filled with moments for reflection and personal stories from those who have experienced their own journeys of trauma and redemption, this interactive devotional invites readers to begin healing from the pain of post-abortion trauma to freedom and wholeness.

“The pro-life movement is a movement of converts and therefore a movement of hope. There is nothing more unnatural than paying a healer, a doctor, to take the life of a child. Abortion is devastating, and the ‘relief’ it promises is nowhere to be found in the aftermath. This beautiful book is a finger that points to healing, hope, and freedom that is possible through Jesus Christ. He is the Great Healer, and these pages show His power to restore our brokenness.”Shawn Carney
COMING TO THEATERS MARCH 2019
Unplanned is the inspiring true story of one woman’s journey of transformation.
All Abby Johnson ever wanted to do was help women. As one of the youngest Planned Parenthood clinic directors in the nation, she was involved in upwards of 22,000 abortions and counseled countless women about their reproductive choices. Her passion surrounding a woman’s right to choose even led her to become a spokesperson for Planned Parenthood, fighting to enact legislation for the cause she so deeply believed in.
Until the day she saw something that changed everything, leading Abby Johnson to join her former enemies at 40 Days For Life, and become one of the most ardent pro-life speakers in America.

Abby Johnson shares heartbreaking statistics regarding abortion
Ashley Bratcher, lead actress in Unplanned, shares how she nearly became an abortion statistic herself
Chuck Konzelman and Cary Solomon, writers-directors of Unplanned, speak about Abby’s desire to help women in crisis
Gabriel and I were privileged to lead the on-set prayer and ministry team while filming Unplanned. During our time in Oklahoma, we witnessed many miracles, breakthroughs, healings and Divine interventions with cast and crew. Often we would find ourselves in the right place at the right time, without an awareness of why we were there. A tug on our hearts to get up and go led us into situations where we prayed for others in the moments they needed it most.
On one night, we were filming a particularly difficult scene involving our lead actress, Ashley Bratcher. Gabriel stood outside the walls of the set with his hand outstretched facing the room where Ashley was preparing for her scene. Suddenly, she came out of the room and began searching for someone—someone who was praying for her. She could feel it. “Don’t stop!” she said when she spotted Gabriel. She needed his prayers to continue. That was the power of the Holy Spirit at work hovering over the set and ministering in our hearts.
I also had the privilege of photographing behind the scenes images throughout filming. Here are just a few of my favorites…

AND THEN THERE WERE NONE
And Then There Were None (ATTWN) is a registered nonprofit organization that exists to help abortion clinic workers leave the abortion industry. ATTWN is pro-life without exceptions. But beyond that, we’re pro-ALL life. We’re pro-love.
We believe that a clinic worker’s life is valuable, too. As former clinic workers, we have a different perspective than others may have – we’ve been in their shoes. And we used those shoes to walk away.
ATTWN seeks to end abortion from the inside out. We believe that the end of abortion starts with abortion clinic workers leaving their jobs and finding healing from their past work. That’s why, as former clinic workers ourselves, we’re committed to helping them through the ENTIRE journey.

NO LONGER BOUND
No Longer Bound – Abortion Recovery Ministry provides a safe place for spiritual healing and deliverance through Jesus Christ to women and men who have been emotionally wounded by abortion.
For many, abortion is a secret silent sorrow. The physical and emotional stress can be devastating and often surfaces months or even years later. Many are struggling and suffering in isolation because they have been unable to grieve over a real loss and process their pain. Does this describe you or anyone you know?
Abortion is a spiritual wound, and a spiritual process is required to heal this wound.
Healing is possible because our trained volunteer leadership team has been where you are now. They have participated in No Longer Bound and are living proof that healing is possible! Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we will help you face your guilt, anger, depression, isolation, and unforgiveness, and help you reconnect with yourself, others, and God. You are not alone; we are here to walk alongside you. Our method is confidential, non-judgmental, personal and compassionate.
RACHEL’S VINEYARD IS A SAFE PLACE
